Dear Parents,
Welcome to my 4th grade class, to both you and your children. Please check my website frequently for updated information. You may notice that I have created pages that are useful on a daily and weekly basis, as well as those you can refer to throughout the year, such as the school supply list, useful websites, and classroom expectations pages.
I will try to post daily homework on my site, but it is still your child's responsibility to copy all assignments from my classroom homework board into his/her agenda each day prior to dismissal, review completed homework with you, and obtain your signature in the agenda each day. This will help students become more responsible and independent as they progress through their 4th grade year. You will notice an amazing change in your child if you encourage him/her to follow the 4th grade expectations for academics and behavior.
I usually post students' grades to the Skyward grading program several times during the week so that you can monitor your child's academic progress. Students who are absent cannot make up some assignments, such as science labs or in class activities, so you will not see a grade posted for your child for that assignment. This will not count for or against your child's grade point average, but will be as if the assignment never existed.
Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns you have throughout the school year. E-mail works best for the quickest response, but you may also write notes in your child's agenda or Weekly Work Folder, or leave a voicemail on my classroom telephone. Call the Whiteside School office at 618-239-0000 x2317 in emergency situations.
Thank you in advance for all your support. 4th Grade is a very important transition year for your children, and neither they nor I would be successful without great parents working as part of the team!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Vicki Wormald
