Homework:
Homework will be assigned each day, and each student will be responsible for copying down all assignments in his or her agenda that are listed on the classroom homework board. Students must get a parent/guardian signature in their agendas each evening. This indicates that parents have reviewed students' homework or notes from teachers.
Weekly Work Folder:
Students will bring a Weekly Work Folder home every Monday, or on the first school day of the week. The
folder will contain all of the graded work from the previous week, as well as a weekly newsletter. Also included will be information about upcoming school events or community opportunities. This folder needs to be signed and
returned the next school day.
Missing/Late Assignments:
Students will receive violations for missing or late assignments, and will spend recess on the bench. The highest grade possible for a late assignment is a 90%. If the assignment is not turned in within 3 days, a grade of zero will be issued for that assignment.
Accelerated Reader:
Accelerated Reader is an independent reading program. To determine their AR reading range, students take a computerized test each grading period. Throughout the grading period, students read AR books within their range and take comprehension tests on the classroom computers. A cummulative AR comprehension grade is recorded on each student's progress report for each grading period.
Accelerated Reader is a program that is designed to allow students to read books at their own
level. Students are given time each school day to read for AR, and they are also expected to read for 20 minutes each night as part of their reading homework.
